AWS OLA is a tool-based IT inventory assessment. The result of this assessment is your individual business case (TCO) and ultimately the basis for your strategic decision – for or against a migration to the AWS Cloud.

Decision makers need reliable information for or against a migration to the AWS cloud.

Due to the different underlying cost models, a one-to-one comparison between on-prem (capex) and cloud-based IT environments (opex – pay per use) is impossible.

Creating a cloud business case based on server inventory lists is therefore not the right approach here.

Solution

AWS OLA is a tool-based IT inventory assessment. After the assessment, we can compare your on-prem costs with an AWS Lift & Shift Scenario and an AWS Rightsized Scenario (Opex).

For the tool-based assessment, we use – according to the underlying AWS Migration Best Practices – proven and robust tools such as the Migration Evaluator (focus on on-prem environments) or Cloudamize (for customers already using cloud-based environments today).

Within the scope of your individual IT Inventory Assessment, the actual utilization, storage usage of your systems and the traffic during operation, as well as your costs for Microsoft licenses will be analyzed over a representative period of at least 2 and better up to 4 weeks.

The result is your individual business case (TCO) and ultimately the basis for your strategic decision – for or against a migration to the AWS Cloud.
