Course description

This course is designed to accelerate you from zero to hero into the world of using Chef Configuration Management. Through this three-day command-line driven adventure, you will develop a solid foundation for managing dozens, hundreds or even thousands of servers the way Facebook, Target, Nordstrom, and many other successful companies do – by using Chef. And because so many companies have both Windows and Linux servers in their environments, we teach you the technical intricacies of managing and integrating both platforms

Course objectives

In this course, you will learn to:

Learn the basics of Chef by taking Chef Foundations. You’ll learn what it means to turn infrastructure into code so that you can automate the configuration, deployment and management of your servers. You’ll also learn about Chef architecture and the set of tools included in the Chef Development Kit (ChefDK).

In addition to the 2-day Chef Essentials course, this course includes an introduction into working with GIT to version-control as well as writing and executing tests. With these tests, you can verify your implementations as well as continuously check for compliance within your environments.
